Clashing against other hunters for practice was as much a part of the curriculum as academics, and the lesson Aster was in was no exception. The teacher had earmarked that period for some sparring, apparently as the combat equivalent of a pop quiz - they wanted to see how far their students had come, and see if there was anything that they'd need to structure their lessons around in the coming months. Feelings towards this were, as ever, mixed. Some were excited to strut their stuff, others groaning in regret at having not gotten enough sleep or maintained their gear properly, while some had a different reaction entirely.

Aster was among the first crowd. Never one to hide his eagerness for a scrap, he practically bolted out of his seat, opening his mouth to volunteer before the teacher - as if in mocking response - announced that partners would be chosen at random. Fate was a fickle mistress, after all, and it wasn't unheard of for Grimm to ambush a team in the middle of a fight, or for some criminal they were pursuing to pull out a trick or a weapon that the authorities hadn't caught wind of. They wanted students to expect the unexpected, and learn how to handle themselves against as many kinds of threats as possible.

He needn't have sat back down for long, however, as the display above the training area displayed his portrait quite prominently, pit against Vlithra's. The teacher didn't even need to call out his name - Aster was up and out of his seat in seconds, making his way towards the empty space at the front, reaching into his pouch to start loading Chimera before he'd even reached the arena. There he waited, weapon in hand, eyes scanning over the assembled students to try and pick Vlithra out from the crowd, hoping to size her up a little before they started going at it.

Combat classes. They were among the very few parts of the academic curriculum of Beacon where Vlithra wouldn‘t be bored out of her mind. It was no wonder really, she thrived on the battlefield which is why she felt estatic when she realized this lesson was going to consist of huntsman combat. The thought of facing other students in this class had her blood boiling in near excitement, although invisible on the outside. As expected she wasn‘t the only one thinking this way. Among the class there were several students simply itching to get to clash against each other, among them a bull faunus who immediately tried to volunteer before the teacher could tell them one crucial detail. The fighters were chosen at random. That curbed Vlithra‘s excitement at least a little bit, it meant it wasn‘t guaranteed for her to fight today. Fate could be oh so cruel as the tigress knew.

Vlithra was as intense as ever, albeit sitting laid back in her seat on leg resting on the other, she listened attentively as she waited for the teach to announce the first bunch of combatants. The tigress was dressed for business as usual, her signature outfit for which she was by now known for on campus. After all why not? Combat classes permitted the students to fight in whatever outfit they were most comfortable with. Vlithra wore her suit pants, combat boots, white shirt and signature vest as she usual did. She even brought her jacket along which was loosely hanging from her shoulders like it tended to do, although she would probably discard it once she was going to fight. Beneath the shirt and pants were also the arm and shin guards she would wear just in case. Her weapons were hanging on her left hip, secured by her chain belt with the cartridge holster for her dust vials.

Not even moments passed and the first candidate was picked. The bull boy that was so eager to volunteer before... Asterion Khryseos ...was chosen, who immediately made his way to the battlements.

Followed by her own name… Vlithra Qing Long. It seemed like that tiny bit of worry from before was wasted afterall. A devilish grin spread across her face as Vlithra reared her body up from her seat and made her way to the arena as well, her gait confident and mighty as she was, her jacket swaying from left to right with each step she took. She then used this little moment to size up her opponent.

It took her a bit to realize, but Asterion was actually a bit taller than her. For once... and by the looks of it he maybe even had a bit more muscle than her. They were traits to be expected from a bull faunus and by the looks of it his weapon was made to compliment a melee oriented combat strategy aswell. A shotgun with an axe blade, easily determined by the frame of the weapon itsself and the ammunition the bull boy loaded in it. She hadn‘t seen him fight yet, but she was sure that they were very even in terms of range and strength, it came down to the other factors to make a difference and frankly the tigress didn‘t mind. Afterall she loved a decent challenge.

Then Vlithra picked up the pace to jump the remainder of the way to her position in the empty space. No need to roll after the landing, Vlithra was used to jumping such distances. She would meet Asterion face to face and extend a balled fist to him with a small grin. “To a good fight.“ Whether or not he accepted the fist bump offered didn‘t matter.

When they were ordered to take their positions and making themselves ready, Vlithra took her place on her side of the field, unhooked the chain of her jacket and threw it away to the side to get rid of it for now. She didn‘t want to have it flail about and potentionally hit her face or obstruct her vision. Then finally after rolling her shoulder and stretching her neck, making a few cracking sounds, her right hand drew one of her two swords. Carnassial Talon, her short-sword which she tended to use not only for its utility, but to ease into a fight as well. She needed to get a read on her opponent first before doing anything too drastic. Her other hand was held close to the holster on her left, ready to snatch a cartridge out of it and insert it into her blade. “Alright, I‘m ready.“ she said as her stern gaze then fixated itsself onto Aster.

Aster didn't even hesitate to meet her fist with his. One hand curled and touched firmly against hers, returning the gesture, while the other held the firearm against his shoulder until he could pull back. "May the best hunter win." He said, a grin covering his face. There could be no doubt that he was looking forward to facing off against her - the spark in his eyes and the smile on his face were, if nothing else, entirely genuine. Even when he stood at his spot in the arena, and held his weapon at the ready, neither died down even a little.

With her signalling she was ready, he sounded off as well, though didn't bother taking his gaze off her. Despite being a bull Faunus, he was like a hawk as he watched her, fingers tapping lightly against the gun in anticipation, feet twitching as he waited for that signal to start. He couldn't quite tell what she had to use against him beyond her blades, but supposed that he'd just figure it out as he went along. It was late to start making any kinds of plans, and worrying about it now would just be a distraction. It was better, in his mind to just make it up on the fly and hope for the best.

With bated breath, he waited as the system counted down from five, racking his first round seemingly to the beat of it. The sound of the clock ticking down filled the classroom - though whether everyone was silent with anticipation or he had simply focussed too much to hear them, he couldn't say. It hardly mattered. His only concern was the fight.

The very second that the klaxon sounded, the only thing left in Aster's place was a cloud of dust, and a faint wisp of smoke from buckshot being fired straight at her. Always one to take the direct approach wherever he could, the Faunus charged headlong into the fray, with Chimera clanking as it shifted swiftly into its axe form, the head twisting as parts receded. For a person of his size, Aster moved startlingly fast - even with Aura, he moved like a raging bull, a wall of solid muscle and aggression surging forward straight towards its target.

Here it came. The countdown was on, going down from five...
Vlithra‘s eyes were strictly trained on her opponent, trying to spot any habits or social cue she could pick up on. Analyzing her opponent before the battle even started, she only needed to see Asterion racking his gun in anticipation to tell... that he was going to fire as soon as that number hit zero. He seemed impatient, at least from what she could tell and she couldn't even blame him. Vlithra was getting impatient, she just really didn't show it.

And look and behold, as soon as the battle started Aster took his first shot of… how many did he load again? Sadly Vlithra didn‘t pay enough attention to remember the exact number of shells he had loaded. But it didn‘t matter, because Aster was already charging at her with full speed, just like the animal of his heritage. The tigress smiled seeing her suspicion confirmed, Aster was a melee fighter. A streak of green lightning crackled across her face as she shot a devilish grin at her opponent.

Vlithra then charged at Aster aswell, only instead of meeting his buckshot head-on she kicked herself of the gorund to jump in a wide arc, in something like a cartwheel, over her opponent and striking with a swift and wide slash of her blade once she passed over him. Aster may had a bit more muscle, but was the bull fast enough to keep up with the tigress? After attacking and whilst still mid-air she then pulled an ice dust cartridge out of her holster and slammed it right into the hole at the pommel of her sword as she landed. A clank sound signalizing that the cartridge was now locked in place inside the blade and ready to be used at any given moment.

She didn‘t stay there for long, she had landed just outside the melee range of this big burly bull wielding an axe and had now evened the fight by dodging those shots at the beginning. She had denied him of a preemptive strike and was now ready to go into the offensive. She quickly ran up to him to continue laying on pressure. Once in reach she stabbed her blade forward aiming for his stomach and pulling it back once she hit or missed. She then continued by trying to slash her opponent at various angles across the chest. She was keeping that ice dust in her blade for when she really needed it.

Vlithra doesn‘t expect Aster to simply take her assault like that and frankly couldn‘t wait to see what he was going to pull in order to regain the offensive. She almost hoped this was going to end with their weapons clashing and them fighting with pure strength alone, even though she was sure she would loose without using her semblance when it would come to that.

Aster saw what was happening, but there was no chance he’d stop in time to block it properly - not at the speed he was going, not even with Aura. He did the best he could, though, and hefted the axe up, and let it take the brunt of her blow. Still moving, and without a chance to brace, Aster stumbled forward a step or two, but he was quick to recover, and quicker to rush her down once more. the gleaming head of the weapon raised and ready to strike as he moved swiftly towards his target once again.

Ever the headstrong barbarian, Aster only made a token attempt at any kind of defensive move. When she pushed the blade forward, he moved to bat it aside - but, with him rushing forward and focussing almost entirely on attacking, all it did was deflect the attack into his shoulder. He raised the haft to take the rest of her strikes, shifting and turning in his grasp to block the blade wherever it could, but some still slipped through, sapping at his Aura little by little. Chimera was heavy, after all, and there was no contest between them when it came to striking speed. Nevertheless, he pressed the offensive with everything he had, a smile painted across his maw the entire time. This was what he was looking for - exhilarating combat against an opponent that could push him.

He charged forward the second that he had a chance to, taking advantage of that split second after her blade hit against his guard. Slow as it was, compared to her swords, Chimera's two-handed form had long enough reach that he didn't have to step in far before he could swing at her properly. He didn't bother going for any fancy tricks or accurate, surgical, strikes - he simply swung down at her from her side, letting gravity do the work for him. It wasn't just a single strike, though. He hefted the axe upwards after its arc, letting momentum carry it, before cleaving down again in a figure-eight.

If it was a contest of sheer strength that she was looking for, Aster was the one to provide it. Every blow he rained down on her was a heavy, savage one, from a weapon built to sever limbs and split armour. He wasn't just trying to cleave her apart, though. Every movement he made - from the pattern his axe cut through the air, to the steps he took forward to try and push her back - had his Semblance slowly building power, letting him reach towards that first charge.

Confidently she chipped away at Aster‘s aura continuously, until he finally managed to find the gap in her attacks to swing his axe down at the tigress. Instinct had kicked in as Vlithra sidestepped into the direction her sword was diverted to. The heavy axe grazed her, but not long after his second attack came, only this time Vlithra intended to confront it to see if she could stand up to his attacks. It wasn‘t rare for her to do this, even when wielding her short sword, her tall frame and strong build usualy allowed her to withstand the force of even the toughest thugs on the street. Putting her blade flatsided onto the arm guard of her other arm she directed both towards where her opponents weapon would strike.

Upon impact her arms flew back towards her being hit with such power. She grunted in response, her feet sliding over the ground as she tried standing her ground up until she had to take a step back. He was hitting hard, dealing about as much damage as she did with multiple strikes, even though she blocked the attack. And he wasn‘t finished yet, the figure eight motion indicated he was going to continue this assault and that didn‘t sit well with the tigress. She figured shouldn‘t take another of those hits with her current weapon. She stepped further back, making Aster barely miss a third swing with his heavy weapon. While she did she threw Carnassial Talon from her right to her left hand and sheathed it. Her main hand grasped the grip of her trusty masterwork blade, Viridian Naraka, with all her strength as Aster continued the onslaught. And when he swung down at her again, it happened. Vlithra was done testing the waters...

“RHAAAAA!“ The sound of a war cry pierced the entire room as Vlithra pulled her green glowing blade from her sheath und struck Asters weapon from below, striking it with enough force to send the heavy axe upwards and Aster‘s arm along with it. The arc of the blades strike was engulfed in green light as it swung upwards behind her wielders head. Without loosing anymore time, Vlithra then swung the blade downward again, green light slicing through the air where the blade went as she lunged back at the bull boy. After that downward strike ended to the left behind her, she realigned her blade to slash horizontally at her opponent, striking right at the height of his hip.

This fight was getting exhilarating. His offensive power had forced Vlithra to use her most trusted weapon. Now the real fight began, with a bigger weapon that she was more skilled with Vlithra was sure she could stand up to Aster‘s unforgiving stampede. And better yet, she still had her semblance as her ace in the hole should she still need to overcome that strength of his or need breathing room.

The third swing missed, and Aster's smile flickered downwards in frustration, though only for a split, solitary, second. He tried to pull back, or at least realign himself to recover quicker, but the sheer force with which he'd swung left him open - and left him vulnerable. In those few moments where she drew her other blade, he could really only watch, and prepare for another swing. Again, he cleaved through the air at her, trying to crush her before she had a chance to use that sword against him, but it wasn't enough. Her weapon, lighter and quicker than his, managed to pierce through and lift the thing into the air.

But she wasn't the only one with tricks up her sleeve. His Semblance had achieved its first level of charge, and with it, his defences had been raised. With Chimera's sheer weight leveraged against Naraka, his strength keeping it in position, and his Semblance further reducing the blow's force, he managed to pull the haft to himself just quickly enough to block it. A great clang rang out into the arena, echoing off the walls and ringing into his ears while he grit his teeth, trying to brace against the heavy blow and shift to block the next. That split second was enough to see he'd never make it, though - and he did the next best thing he could.

Aster shifted his stance, tensing and bracing, looking her dead in the eyes as he took the blow square to the hip. When the blade made contact with him, he staggered to the side, grunting and gritting his teeth as the strike knocked him... but failed to knock him down. He grinned at her, letting the blade dig in, before raising his axe again and charging forth with blinding speed, the head of his own weapon glinting in the light as it was pulled back and to the side. Once more, he hacked through the air, swinging at her side with incredible force.

He swung wildly this time, hacking at her from different directions every time, his body twisting and turning to leverage yet more force into each savage blow. This - all of this - it was what he loved in a fight, and in a hunt. A foe that could match his strength and take his strikes, pushing him and setting his pulse racing.

Vlithra felt her sword dig into the side of her opponent anmd when she did, she was rather euphoric. A solid hit like that should have dealt a big chunk of damage to his aura and the strength she put into her swing made sure that Aster won‘t be standing after that… or at least she thought. She was surprised when she saw that all her attack did was knock the burly bull only a bit. That and Aster‘s undeterred glare made her hesitate enough to only barely deflect the next hit away from her. She spun around realigning her blade to meet Chimera. And when their blades clashed Vlithra felt her arms being pulled away from her as his swing connected with the blade undeterred by the force behind her own strike. What strength… or was it strength?

Vlithra didn‘t know whether that was a semblance at work or just the guys physical prowess, but she knew for sure, it was almost impossible to truly clash against this guy. As she remembered that he was also undeterred by her attack, she jumped back to gain distance and wasted a look onto the aura meter of the two. He definetly took the full damage of her swing, he was just simply unfazed by it. Meanwhile Aster continued his onslaught onto her, it allowed him to close the gap onto Vlithra again and when he did, another swing of his massive weapon came.

Vlithra grasped the front blade of her weapon with her other hand, readied herself and aligned the blade so it would take the full force of Aster‘s swing. She succesfully blocked the hit, but still staggering her a bit. She would block another hit like this to figure out the timing of his attack before than using the opening between the swings to get more personal with the bull.

She flared up and shot forward in a flash of green light, pulling back her left arm and balling her hand to a fist, where green lightning crackled about. And upon reacihn her opponents tall frame she thrusted her arm forward, aiming a punch straight to the bull boys chest. Upon impact the kinetic energy discharged into the spot where she hit and propelled it away from her with the force of a dump truck. This kind of attack would usually launch any unfortunate soul away form the tigress, but somehow she felt that this was going to have less of an effect as she initially thought. It will deal huge damage, her hypothesis was correct it meant he could retaliate when she was right. She was taking quite the gamble here.

Dense though he was, even Aster could see that she was winding up to something. His Aura had already taken a big hit from the blow to his side, and he wouldn't take another one like it - not if he could help it. Rather than dodge, however, he braced himself, swinging his axe into a defensive position, and gripped the metal tight. Emerald-green eyes focussed squarely on her, waiting to see any subtle change in movement, not even blinking as she drew closer and closer, waiting to see what precisely she'd do to him.

Despite its size, Aster managed to bring the haft up against the blow, narrowly managing to block it, and forcing his weapon to take the brunt of the blow. Dust erupted off the ground as he was sent backwards, the sheer force of it sending him careening through the dirt while trying to maintain his footing - and ending a solid few feet from her. Though she hit like a runaway freight train, his Semblance had never stopped building charge, and with two levels? That was enough for him to at least stay standing, even if not in the same spot.

"My turn." He growled, his lips turning up once more to twist into a savage grin. Ducking low, he ran forward, every footfall like thunder going off as he barrelled towards her, axe at his side. The blade cut once more through the air - this time crashing like lightning towards her neck. It was a reckless charge, leaving him wide open, but he knew that much. He'd done it before - he just didn't care. With two charges banked, and the third likely not too far off as long as he could keep his momentum going, she'd need to pull another trick like that if she wanted to make him budge. And, if it was anything like his Semblance, it wouldn't be something she could keep up.

Only moments after her attack Vlithra‘s hand was trembling. Her semblance empowered strike had shot a big amount of kinetic energy through her arm, fueled by a sizeable chunk of her aura. She could already feel the ache kicking in, she knew she clearly overdid it as her left arm started feeling weaker than before. No more pulling any stunts like that or else she‘ll be limping when this fight was over.

The tigress was however more worried about something else. Her stern and almost let down gaze saw her opponent being pushed back far less than she anticipated. That punch of hers should‘ve sent Aster through the air like a trashcan that‘s been tossed at someone, yet the only thing her kinetic punch did was damage his aura and knock him away a few feet. Both their aura levels were somehwat even now, with Vlithra only having a slight lead due to Aster starting to loose aura through his semblance, but Vlithra didn‘t notice that at first. She didn‘t knew that as she simply just confirmed her suspicion at least, Aster was an almost immoveable object once he got going and quickly she realized this was heavily to her disadvantage. One of her strategies was to take a hit to land a more fatal blow on the opponent afterall, but... if the enemy could do that better then that tactic was basically useless. She had to adapt her strategy.

If she couldn‘t meet his attacks head on for too long, then she had to avoid doing so. She then saw Aster chargin towards her again, but more vicious than he did before. The guy was going for something even more reckless wasn‘t he? This quesiton shot through her head as his thundering steps gradually turned into the sounds of a true stampede. She hesitated to brace herself and then that powerful swing cleaved the air in two as he aimed for her neck. As much as Vlithra wanted to match this powerful swing with her own, she knew doing so would surely not go well for her. She steeled herself as she fixed her gaze onto the axe that came closer and closer to its target…

Only for it to miss as Vlithra locked her right foot behind her left knee and let it give up, causing her to drop down onto her feet and the blade narrowly missing her head. Vlithra could feel a droplet of sweat going down her cheek as she saw the underside of the blade being swung above her. Then as she barely touched down, she spun herself back upwards, striking Aster‘s side with her blade using the momentum of the spin while Aster went past her. This felt a lot like the knee drop move she had practiced when she started breakdancing. Sadly her blade‘s edge only scraped Aster slightly, not much damage was done.

Phew That was almost too close for comfort, but in turn… it felt exhilarating. The excitement shot into her head at the realization of what she just pulled off. That additional adrenalin shot was exactly what she needed and maybe even wanted from fights like these. This would have been very provoking to Aster if she said it out loud, but that wasn‘t much of his turn now was it? So Vlithra decided in that moment that she let him take another swing. She smirked in a provocative way at the bull as she sheathed her sword again, ready to use the aura battery if necessary.

The blade missed by a hair's breadth, swinging but a fraction of an inch too far to hit her. He tried to recover the best he could, knowing instinctively she'd take the chance the second she could, but there was only so much he could do. All that weight focussed at the end of the haft along with the momentum of his swing left him scrambling to block the swing at his neck, and even after all his efforts, he could only deflect it into his arm. The haft had taken the brunt of the damage, but with his Aura ticking down - after already having been hacked away at - every hit mattered.

Rather than adapt, however, he chose a different 'strategy' altogether - swinging harder, and without pause. While he knew he'd never match her speed, with his charges built up to maximum, and his stamina regenerating faster than he could possibly spend it, he could keep the pressure on no matter what. A guttural, vicious roar filled the arena, and he pushed forward towards her, haft raised and ready to block whatever she threw at him. Just looking at her, though... something felt off. Something felt wrong. She'd sheathed her weapon, and it didn't seem to him as though she was preparing to dodge, or even defend herself.

It was likely that any sensible person would have stopped, or at the very least, paused. Something like that was more than a cause for suspicion. But Aster, as reckless as he was strong, barely even thought about it. He threw himself into the air, axe raised above his head, before bringing it down like lightning upon her. A single, arcing strike with staggering power - gravity, his strength, the sheer weight of the solid lump of metal gleaming in the arena's light - striking towards her from above, as if to try and cleave her in two with one savage swing.

As Aster charged straight at her again, Vlithra was able to see the gears turning in his head. He seemed unnerved... or rather... confused by her sudden change in combat behaviour, but it didn‘t change his approach. The guy was being waaay to reckless, so much so she could decide the fight right here and there for her if he kept that approach up... but where would the fun in that be?

That fiendish grin of hers widened as she saw Aster jump of the ground and strike down at her with the full force of his being. Vlithra quickly drew her blade again to get the sword back out of its sheath. No need for the aura battery, since Aster decided to keep going on the offensive instead of getting cautious at the tigresses change in battle tactic. She then raised her sword upwards, but not to meet the blade with her own but to catch the axe‘s haft between the spikes of her guard and her blade, taking a step diagonally forward to get closer to the bull boy. She was starting to look like a cat playing with its prey. She let her sword turn around the haft of Chimera as its weight was brought down and then forced the axe blade to stay down there stuck in the guard as she pushed the blade into the ground against Aster trying to pull the blade back.

She was now nice and intimate with the bull boy, but not for long as she used her other hand to punch straight into the side of his ribs. No semblance this time, this attack was sort of a diversion for the real thing. She kicked her body of the ground, bringing her body down on her sword, digging it deeper into the ground for it to be stuck there. She backflipped while using her blade as a pivot to land behind. The tigress then realigned her grip again and pulled and pushed her entire bodyweight forward as she performed a drop kick towards Asters chest. She would use the impact to again backflip off of the bull boys body, pull her sword out of the ground when she safely landed behind her blade again and face Aster in a battle ready stance again. This time the blade held above her head, tip pointing towards the bull.

Once done, she exhaled in satisfaction of her maneuver. She had adopted these crazy acrobatics straight from her mother. The tigress thought about it and immediately realized that she had adopted far more than just that. She took too much after her some times, always relishing the fight and toying around when the opportunity was there. I mean how could she not with an opponent as straightforward as Aster?

The jump had been for more than just power. That leap through the air had been the last motion he needed to push past the threshold, and build up to his fourth charge. Energy surged through him like a storm, lightning filling his veins, and a savage grin carving itself into his face. Nothing short of a hand grenade would budge him, and though she trapped him, she wasn't budging him an inch if he didn't let her. His axe was pushed into the ground while he was steadying himself after the fall, but once he'd gained his footing and grounded himself properly, everything was set.

The punch barely even shifted the creases of his tank top. It barely even registered for him - his focus was on her, and something that couldn't even shift him didn't warrant a glance. Undistracted, and ready for whatever she threw at him, Aster twisted on his heel and brought the haft of the weapon up to intercept the kick, shunting her away while barely even flinching himself. The dirt getting into his eyes seemed to have more of an effect on him, even if his Aura said otherwise. Despite how he held himself, he was close to critical - and his Semblance was dropping it further.

As headstrong as he was, even Aster could see that the duel had to be ended quickly, if there was any chance to win it. She was fast, and she was agile - she could run rings around him if she wanted, chipping away at his Aura, and he didn't have enough left in the tank to get in a good hit that'd cut her down.

Or did he?

It was a stupid idea. A terrible one that'd probably take him below the threshold, if not outright wipe his Aura out completely. But he didn't really have a lot of options - it was that, or nothing.

A mighty roar, like thunder booming, filled the air, and once more, he charged. Head down to make himself as small a target as possible, hands clenched around the haft, Aster glared at her with steely emerald eyes. He was a foot away when he raised his weapon - but not at her. He'd shifted it into its shotgun form, and using its recoil, he launched himself to her side. She wasn't the only one that knew a trick or two, and it showed as he racked another round with a swift, practised motion, then launched himself towards her again, driven forward by another blast of buckshot.

Heavy clanking and grinding rang out as Chimera shifted into its single-handed axe form. Weaker, perhaps, but quicker. At this range, against someone as fast as her, he needed every advantage he could get a hold of if his plan was to work.

And yet again the bull boy charged forward at her. He really was going to stick to this single minded approach wasn‘t he? As Aster began raising his weapon, Vlithra shot her blade forward trying to pierce the center of Aster‘s body with her brutish blade. However instead of meeting aura protected flesh, she hit air. Realization hit her as Aster had propelled himself to her side using a shotgun shell, perfectly dodging her attack. In this moment Vlithra cursed her own carelessness. She had unintentionally let herself be conditioned for him to be a straightforward guy. No brain, only brawn. It made her angry at herself.

Battle instinct immediately kicked in as she saw Aster approaching from the side, using another shot to propell himself at her with great speed. Expecting another heavy hit to come towards her, the tigress tried jumping away. Too bad she didn‘t expect him to shift to the faster one handed form. Seeing this, muscle memory kicked in and activated her semblances fail safe… the kinetic shockwave. Green lightning crackled momentarily around Vlithra and then suddenly shot outward in a wave of energy which‘s force would normaly repell such an attack. But not this one, no no. Having forgotten about what she 'thought' was Aster‘s semblance in the heat of the moment, the shockwave didn‘t do much to deter the attack, allowing Aster to land a hit square on her shoulder and chipping away at her aura in addition to what she used for the shockwave.

This was a big swing for Aster, because now they were evenly matched in terms of aura remaining, albeit his was depleting at a fast rate. Trying to shrug off the hit he landed, Vlithra intended to meet his offense head on this time. Him using a less powerful, but faster weapon meant she could clash with it more easily using Naraka. Fueled with anger, her semblance increasing the power of her already brutish strength, she slashed her weapon to the side to meet Aster‘s. She then continued slashing at him from different angles, growling like a tiger with each strike.
