Tournament Arc: Sean Thru, vs Azoireda Ikteris

Sean was less than impressed with the tournament so far, his first fight simply did not happen due to this opponent leaving the tournament early, so he won by forfeit.
Which, while efficient, wasn't the reason he was here he wanted to see what the best of the student body had to offer and what aspects of his fighting style he could improve upon, of course, scouting out potential "friends" with useful semblance was also a bonus.

As such, Sean now stood in the ring again, he was doing a few stretches, mainly with his left arm making sure he could use Ripcord to it's full effect, the bulky steel wire launches sat snugly on his wrist with the rest of the weapon being the only armor Sean had on his person, sides that he simply wore a plain looking suit and dress pants, both gray reminiscent of the Atlas Academy uniform, only missing the emblem and his name plate, the latter of which was redundant as his name was projected overhead for all to see, as was the name and face of his hopefully soon to be opponent, the referee had already announced that he was going to give Sean the win if this Azoireda Ikteris did not arrive soon.
She looked like a nice girl, a first year student, though a bit green and no doubt plenty of insecurities he could exploit if need be.

" Azoireda Ikteris please make your way to the ring, this is your last warning!"
Called the referee, Sean sighed, fixing his suit a little, he had been looking forward to an actual fight.

This sucked.

Her last fight had been weird. Her opponent had been fairly skilled with her weapon and used some seriously nifty elemental attacks, but when she'd bluffed an elemental affinity by tanking a few hits her opponent had just... given up? Az was confused.

Now wasn't the time to think about that, though - it was time for her second bout. She walked into the arena as she rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "Sorry," she said as she reached the middle of the ring and her opponent. "I'm not usually this late..." It was true: while she was always late due to her Semblance, her constant efforts to counteract it meant that she was very rarely this late.

"Az Ikteris," she introduced herself, offering a hand for her opponent to shake.

There she was, and while she wasn't punctual, she was polite.
"Sean Thru, No worries, life happens Azoireda."
He shot her a smile, meant to reassure her; he didn't need any negative thoughts clouding her judgment; he wanted to see his fellow students at their best, before he broke them down.

Sean walked back, taking his stance, and as he did, he let a flash bang slide from his sleeve into his hand. Unless Azoireda had an x-ray semblance, this would be an easy way to catch her off guard.

As the countdown began, Sean discretely put his thumb to the pin.

"3...2...1...GO!"
Upon the Referee's shout, Sean immediately launched the flash bang at Azoireda's feet, lifting his own arm to shield his face; if it worked, he would circle strafe around her, get into her blind spot, and let his semblance do its job. It wouldn't hide him forever, but it should grant him enough time to get in a quick sneak attack.

This fight was going to be a lot different from her previous one. For one, her opponent was older. For another, he came out swinging.

Metaphorically, at least. The bell had barely sounded before a flashbang landed in front of her and her opponent circled around to her side.

She could handle that, so she allowed the flashbang to do its thing and turned to place her back to her opponent. Tanking an early hit and coming out completely unscathed had worked pretty well during her last fight, so she'd try it again this time.

Was his semblance that effective on her?
Sean doubted it, but her back being turned to him was too good of an opportunity.
He ran to her, his steps almost entirely silent as the then leapt for an attack, but instead of hitting her, Sean wrapped his arms around Az's neck.

He had her in a chokehold, using his taller size to lift her off the ground to make his hold more effective and make it harder for Az to escape, as he was entirely content to just choke her out.

Az had not been expecting a sleeper hold to be her opponent's method of attack, but this was probably one of the better possible outcomes for her, so she activated her Semblance, started to put up a futile struggle to get his arms off her, and waited..

Could she breathe right now? No. Did that actually matter when she could wait a very long time between breaths? Not really. Was she screwed if he didn't let go of her when she went limp after enough time that her passing out would be believable? Yes.

Sean was more than a little confused by his opponent, she didn't look weak, decently strong actually, but she just didn't put up a meaningful fight, sure she held her breath for quite a while, but Sean knew he was making progress, he could tell by the way her pulse was slowly increasing, but after a few seconds she did finally begin to struggle, weird that it took that long.
While Sean was entirely content to choke her out, he was also not going to ignore tournament standard or rules, so when he felt that Azoireda stop struggling and instead tap on his arm as her face started getting red, he'd let go.

The buzzer blared, as Azoireda was catching her breath and Sean just stood there, he sighed, deactivating Ripcord as the cable launcher folded back into the armor.
"Well...thank you for the match Azoireda it was...interesting."
The word he wanted to say was disappointing or anticlimactic, but he kept it at that, bowed to his opponent and left the arena without another word, this was not how he wanted his first match to go.
