Two charisma masters go head to head.
Only one can continue to stomp the rest of the competition, no room for two heart throbs. The crowd was ready to see these two beauties go head to head.
Bartok finished rolling up his sleeves and rolled his shoulder's. Of course his vest was still on and he brushed his long black hair back, striking a small pose for a moment as he flashed his white-toothed smile. The crowd surged with more cheering as he did so. "I always thought we should hang out some more, Kailyn." He called to his opponent before reaching behind him, grabbing the two metal stakes out of the quiver at his side. It was strapped to his waist and also down his thigh, making sure it stayed upright. "Didn't think we would end up like this though~"

”You’re saying you aren’t interested in sparring with the lights off? Damn, Barty, I dunno whether to feel pity or envy for Al.” She hadn’t seen the bat Faunus since the obstacle course, but she’d got the lowdown (and the… highdown? what was the opposite of a lowdown?) from Erin.
Bending her knees slightly, Kailyn’s hands moved to the hilts of her weapon. ”No holding back, y’hear?” she asked him as her eyes narrowed, planning her attack. ”I want your best, boyo, or you can forget about Taco Tuesday.”

"Envy." Bartok smiled wickedly.
"3!"
"And sadly for you and the other gorgeous women here, I'm committed."

He twirled the stakes around in his hands, the heavy tips loosening to whip around in the air with whirling flourishes before retracting and snapping back into their places.
"1!"
"I don't want you holding back either, Kay."
"Fight!"
Kailyn's specialty was close-range combat, using her Semblance to close the distance. But she dealt with gravitational forces, and those worked on exponential accelerations instead of flat boosts of speed. Bartok was competent with close range but he was nowhere near Kailyn's skill, and while he had two weapons hers had more reach. Translation: Getting in close was a bad idea and he needed distance. Distance would give him time.
The moment the announcer declared the battle ongoing Bartok flicked the stakes backward, the heavy tips slinging to the far back wall and digging in. The next breath Bartok was being pulled backwards by the powerful motors in the stakes. Mid-flight he jerked his arms forward, further accelerating him away from Kailyn and yanking the tips out of the wall. He spun mid-air, legs and wires arcing outward as he combined the stakes into their bow form and knocked two arrows. With using her Semblance, she'd have to travel further than the usual distance to reach him, meaning the gravity would accelerate her faster, and possibly put her on shaky ground. That is, if he understood her Semblance and the force of gravity correctly.
His feet planted on the wall, knees bending and back arching as he drew back on the bow, aiming at Kailyn with two Ice Dust arrows. Her own noise let him know where she was, plus the sound of his feet hitting the wall created an echo to see the whole arena after that announcer near blinded him with his call. He let the two Ice Arrows Fly before kicking off to the left side, feet dancing on the sand as he knocked and loosed a Combustion Arrow, aiming to knock her back and create more distance. If she had been locked solid by this Ice this would blow her back, the force needed to break the ice hurting her Aura even more. If she had gotten through, this was a temporary measure to keep her back.

The moment the signal came to start, Kailyn jumped as high as she could, using her Semblance for a boost. She rocketed all the way to the ceiling, flipped over, and casually inverted gravity to stand on it and look up to Bartok, who had used the sound of his feet hitting the wall to echo sound the arena before firing arrows in the direction she'd been standing.
A wicked grin appeared on her face as she realized that had she charged him straight on, she'd have been ganked in short order. Bartok was no slouch up close, but she'd been training with her swords since nearly birth: he'd be far outclassed if she could get close.
Getting close, of course, was the problem. Fortunately for her, it was far form an insurmountable one. After waiting just long enough for the echo to clear, she launched herself directly at him, pushing her Semblance to the limit to hit a blistering 6x terminal velocity, aiming a double-footed kick directly for his head. Bartok hadn't expect her to gain distance as well. She excelled in close-quarters, so he figured she'd want to press her advantage as quickly as possible, using the loud call for the start to the fight and the delay in sound to hamper his reaction. But she had judged correctly to not underestimate his preemptive moves and back off.
The Ice Arrows whistled as they flew, and from the moment they were loosed he knew they would miss. Kailyn had already left that spot. And was almost halfway to him. The sheer speed she was traveling made Bartok's heart skip a beat. By now he already had his Combustion arrow out and knocked. But she was moving too fast, the blast would hardly slow her down enough for him to survive her kick! He swung his bow downward as quick as he could, and let loose the arrow as he jumped.
The blast helped propel him faster upwards than normal jumping would, and it allowed him to skate by Kailyn's attack so closely he swore he saw, saw, her boots. Only reason they didn't connect with his side and snap his spine was his spinning in the air, gliding by her body while an inch away. The whole reaction took less than a second.
He landed awkwardly on his feet, stumbling on the sand as he took his bow apart. It was the right move, as Kailyn was already moving on him. "I think you move too fast for me, Kailyn." Was all he was able to get out before his stakes were making contact with her blade. But he was caught on bad ground and bad footing, and would quickly lose if it was left to this!
His stakes were thrown upward as he parried a strike with both of them, and he let that force carry him into a backwards flip. His hands touched the ground and he threw himself straight upward. Bartok was tall and lean but he was made of muscles like steel whipcord. Only rising ten feet or so, Bartok then turned himself and sent the sharp stakes zipping at Kailyn in a last ditch attack.

He took a page out of her book and dodged by jumping, and Kailyn landed, hard, in the floor of the arena, digging a hole nearly two feet deep in the hard, compacted sand and sending a spray of the loose top layer of sand everywhere. A quick burst of her Semblance dug her out and she was upon Bartok in a flash, her twin blades singing through the air.
Both strikes were neatly parried by a stake each as Bartok used the momentum to get enough distance to make his own move. Using his hands, he abruptly turned his distancing dodge into a repositioning leap and his weapons were coming and she was very, very out of position.
Kailyn reacted more on instinct than tactical thought, but she had been using her swords and Fingers for nearly a decade now. She knew how to counter a pair of fast-moving sharp things when her swords weren't in a position to block. With a single thought, she launched two of her throwing knives out of their sleeve and sent them toward the incoming stakes with all the might her Semblance could muster.
It was only as one of the knives zipped through her field of vision that her eyes shot wide open as she realized that she'd made a horrible mistake.
Remember, Lin had told her last week as they'd packed up Lin's workshop, these are for throwing. You did a good job for your first time, but they're not going to hold up to any kind of hard impact. Don't use them in close combat, and don't trigger them too close to yourself.
In her desperation, Kailyn had forgotten which end of the sleeve she'd put her new Dust-infused knives, and she'd picked the wrong end.
The knives collided with the stakes at a much higher speed than Kailyn could have thrown them with her hands, and they did so much, much closer to anyone than they were supposed to.

She didn't know how much Aura Barty had left after tanking the slipstream from her dive-bomb attack, but she knew that she didn't have enough left to tank the explosion that was already detonating between them. With no more time to think, she reached out with her Aura and PUSHED.
She barely saw both her and Bartok being launched away from each other by a combination of her Semblance and much-too-close proximity to a large explosion of unstable Combustion Dust-infused pieces of shrapnel before everything went black.

The sound of something slipping from a sheath, a throw, the sharp whipping of air, then nothing.
Ringing. Pain.
Black.
"What..." The announcer said, "What just happened?" There was a great deal of smoke clouding the center of the arena, and the large screen displaying the contestant's Aura levels still showed them at their relatively healthy levels. And then the sensors seemed to catch something and dropped them both to 0.
"Medical services to the arena please!" He called out. "Folks, it seems we have an explosive tie! Though we hope both contestants are alright, we're going to take an intermission before the next round of fights begin! We will let you know the status of our fighters here as soon as we can!"
Medical personelle rushed to the field, locating both Kailyn and Bartok in the smoke and taking them off.
Both of their Aura's took the vast majority of the damage, and aside from small burns and scrapes, both were completely fine in the end.
