Physical Description:
Nanna's appearance belies her might, but does plenty to tell you about them all the same. Their outward physique is fairly average, neither impressive nor feeble, but may have the makings of a runner's build someday. Her skin is a light brown and is well-cared for, though generally absent of cosmetics. Her hair is a different story, which is naturally black but is doggedly dyed red, so as to match her eyes. It remains cut fairly short, or at least as long as they can get away with without risking it getting in the way.

She has a sort of tireless energy about her, enough so for it to be a bit of an identifier. This most often takes the form of passively tapping a foot, drumming fingers, frequently shifting her weight, and all other manner of little tells. So too does their gaze rarely remain on one thing for long, though the stark opposite becomes true when their attention is held.
Outfit Description:
Nanna likes straddling the line between cute and punk, if such a thing were to be possible. Lots of reds, pinks, and purples. Pockets, regardless of which article they have to be attached to, are a MUST. Her weapon, Lodestar, is typically attached at her back.
Personality Description:
Nanna is, in a word, unassailable.

Though she’s always been a bit of a hothead on a moment-to-moment basis, they nonetheless approaches life itself the same way she might a battle: cunning over brute force, a half-decent plan over haste. They’d deem it best to focus on one’s long-term goals first and foremost, and call that an essential quality of any sensible Huntsman or Huntress to boot. There are precious few better ways to stave off the kind of negativity or hopelessness that attracts Grimm, after all, than to never lack something to strive for.

Nanna is often quick to decide how she feels about someone new, with first impressions being key. Truth be told, if they still can’t get a read on someone after having known them for a bit, meanwhile, it actually tends to bother them; figuring *herself* out is normally supposed to be the hard part, after all. Nonetheless, they’re still thoroughly outgoing, and are a fast friend as much as they are a quick adversary.

Meanwhile, it’s extremely hard to get Nanna down, something she sort of prides herself on. They’re certainly no stoic—positive and neutral emotions come quite easy—but any deliberate attempts to upset her or throw her off her game tend to roll off like water over a river-stone. Still, if something actually does manage to get under their skin, it can be to rather prodigal results, with big spikes of sadness or anger or whatever else not uncommon.

In essence, though they often spend quite a bit of energy trying to reign it in, under the surface, Nanna is simply incredibly passionate—about everything, about anything at all worth being and doing. They have and likely never will be able to accept mundane living, and have put the whole of their being into making an impact, and not for the sake of legacy.

She means only to experience as much as possible and to leave the world a little better for her being three, and if that means becoming a candle burning at both ends, then so be it.
Backstory Highlights:
Regardless of where in Remnant one is from, rare is the greater boon to a poor family than a child who discovers they possess a noteworthy Semblance. Nanna Desher would one day have a soul that could shine brightly enough to accomplish such a feat, but not without first walking down a bit of a bumpy path.

Though originally longstanding residents of Kuroyuri in Mistral, Nanna’s family fled in the wake of it being attacked, in the end moving to Kuchinashi. There they had a hard time of it—the city was unfriendly, dangerous… And inescapable. No other real refuge was anywhere close enough for those who would have to walk, and by it risk facing the Grimm. A younger Nanna was thus as directionless as she was frustrated.

But an incident which at first seemed like yet more misfortune for a younger Nanna, where they by chance saw something she shouldn’t have and was nearly disappeared by one of Kuchinashi’s worryingly numerous assassins, saw them being rescued by none other than a Huntsman. The danger of that hour, and perhaps some small recognition of potential, saw him awakening the spark of Nanna’s Aura.

In the aftermath, Nanna was newly filled with motivation, and with it gifted a goal and just enough of an advantage to enter a proper combat school. After all, such is the origin point for many a Hunter, the ranks of which she fully intended to join. For in that moment, they decided that they’d do for others as had been done for them.

Here her performance was mostly average, however. It wasn’t until what might’ve otherwise led to expulsion—a brawl with another student they were on ill terms with—that they first found an edge: their Semblance. It was by no chance the greatest the school had seen, but it lent her reliability, both in terms of performance and as a person… Or, more accurately, it became the tool by which they’d forge that quality in herself.

Seeking the greatest heights she could reach, however, they applied to each of the great Academies in turn, and it just so happened to be Beacon which answered. With promises of writing both home and to friends in equal measure, she departed.
Occupation:
Student
Education:
Nanna went to Providence, located in Kuchinashi and one of Mistral's primary combat schools, before departing to Beacon. There they picked up the tricks of the trade, and those skills are being honed even now courtesy of Beacon itself.
Semblance Name:
Aura Battler
Semblance Description:
Named such to be as self-explanatory as possible, Aura Battler allows its user to extend their own Aura beyond themselves, causing it to visibly flare up and occupy additional space outside of the user's body, enabling it to act as a superior weapon and tool in of itself.

In essence, this Aura extension allows Nanna or another user to do two things:

• They can push their Aura into another's. This can partly substitute for that other being’s Aura, if at all drained, or alternatively even help fuel or bolster some aspect of their Semblance when both Auras cooperate. This cannot cause them to heal any faster, however, as a foreign Aura doesn't comprehend them in the same way.

• They can push their Aura through another’s. This is the exact opposite of the above, for by concentrating some of their own Aura outwards onto some form of weapon (or in a pinch, even just over an arm), they can “cut through” an opposing Aura. This excels at quickly piercing normal Aura barriers, but so too might it be used to sever some instance of a Semblance that is separate from its user (a shield, a weapon, etc.).

As with many a Semblance, the actual power of these effects is determined by how much of the user’s Aura they’re willing to put into it, spent at a 1:1 ratio. The range is a similar story, as it's ordinarily restricted to nearly point-blank, but can reach a reasonable line-of-sight distance with extra effort (but of course, at the cost of power). It is, however, rather notably efficient when used offensively, courtesy of only needing to form external Aura around a single point or object. Worthy of note is that this *can* all be resisted—it’s simply substantially more expensive for the defender to do so compared to how much went into the attack! This normally constitutes about a 50% difference.

Lastly, a key factor of what makes this Semblance worthy of a Huntress is how it interacts with beings that lack a soul, and by it an Aura: it simply passes through them, like it would empty space. When used with a weapon, a direct hit can pierce heavy armor and potentially gravely wound even the mightiest of Grimm.
Weapon Name:
Lodestar
Weapon Image:

Weapon Description:
Lodestar is both a combination and transforming weapon, and is of the highly classic sword-and-rifle type. There are a few twists on that formula that make it stand out, however, starting with the fact that it's actually two separable weapons joined together. The blade is the larger of the two, its hilt just enough for two hands, but with a second, single-handed hilt towards its middle, for it can fold inwards like a sort of butterfly knife for easy storage... Or for use in unorthodox attacks. Meanwhile, the gun is actually about the size of a pistol, but uses the framework of the blade to act more like a rifle when combined.

Though it can be loaded with Dust rounds like any good weapon, the gun has a dedicated location for a Hardlight Dust crystal. When 'fired' in pistol mode, this allows a Hardlight blade to form, with its length able to be varied between that of a dagger or proper sword. Once this blade has formed, a Dust round of any other variety can also be fired into it, allowing it to briefly gain its traits, and by it temporarily creating a sword of flame, electricity, or whatever else... Which is generally all flash, but is something Nanna is fond of doing. Collectively, this enables Lodestar to be used in quite a few ways as needed.

An added wrinkle: Lodestar is designed to cooperate with Nanna's Semblance. By channeling Aura through that Hardlight Dust crystal's chamber, an "Aura Sword" can be emitted instead (appearing as a loose blade of energy the color of Nanna's Aura), enabling far greater length and the application of the offensive properties of Aura Battler. Though this can be only done for a short time (it's quite exhausting), this is Nanna's go-to ace in the sleeve, and a single "Aura Slash" is usually plenty powerful on its own.
Other Gear:
Nanna always has pockets for a reason. They regularly carry their wallet (black leather) and scroll (actually very well maintained and loaded with Lodestar's design work and theoretical revisions), and also quite frequently a multitool. She also tends to have to keep a good few spare Dust vials on her, courtesy of burning through a lot of the stuff.
Fighting Style:
Nanna's manner of fighting is best described as unorthodox.

With a weapon she's designed to be tricky to deal with and a penchant for mixing in elbows, knees, and the rare opportune headbutt between strikes, a genuine life-and-limb fight against Nanna is bound to be a bit unpleasant. Even under more tame circumstances, be it a spar, duel or whatever else, they still prefer to seek advantages and prod at defenses before closing in one a weakness is revealed. Depending on their temperament, this can thus often make the length of such fights depend more on her opponent than Nanna herself.

More generally, they fight like what they feel a good Huntress ought to: agile, mobile, energetic, and more than a little aggressive.
Strengths:
+ Has rock-solid offense and defense alike, and excels at blending the two evenly
+ Can fight effectively at all common ranges
+ Excellent at coordinating with other Huntsmen and Huntresses
+ Spirited and highly sociable
+ Extremely difficult to demoralize
+ Remarkably intuitive and insightful in regards to others
Weaknesses:
- Semblance is largely melee-centric, and can thus be outranged
- Needs a team to fully utilize their Semblance
- Dislikes solo assignments, and perhaps being alone in general
- Highly bothered upon failing to understand someone
- Willing to go so far as to fight over disagreements
- At times lacks inner clarity
Likes:
+ Adrenaline
+ Spending all day with friends
+ Science fiction novels
+ Concerts
+ Sparring
+ Long hikes
+ People Like Grapes Soda!™
Dislikes:
- Sour tastes
- Gossip
- Busywork
- Formal wear
- Those with an ego
- Chores in general, really
Fun Facts:
All art is by deadc0py, who is currently playing Argibee!

Nanna takes their name from Innana! One of the many deities that was later attributed to that name was Ishtar, who had a bit of a notable role in Gilgamesh. Desher, meanwhile, is simply a word for red, which is of course her primary color.

Nanna's Semblance is reflective of how they excel at understanding others, and can use that to either help or hinder them as appropriate, but can't really read herself in the same way. Thus, they can either pierce or aid another's Aura, but doing this projects a part of their own Aura outside of themself.
