Personality Description:
Rosa is, in a word, simply straightforward. She seldom doubts the intentions of the people she meets for the first time, speaking openly with them regardless of who they might turn out to be. In fact, she's the kind of person to approach someone first rather than wait for them, especially if they catch her interest, which isn't hard considering how much she likes meeting people. However, this trait of her could also be considered pushy and even overbearing to some, as she has troubles recognizing when someone doesn't want to be approached until it's already too late.

Rosa is also a woman of extremes; if you're not a good person, then you're bad, and the other way around. She has an idealistic sense of justice that doesn't accept evil of any kind, regardless of scale or justification. This goes double if someone is a Huntsman, as the romanticized image on her mind pays them as the ultimate force of good that should never participate in evil. If she can talk people out of doing something that's wrong, she will do it, and if it doesn't work out, then she will resort to force. This lack of flexibility can be both her biggest strength, as well as her biggest fault, depending on who you ask.

Her most characteristic trait, however, is definitely her desire to help anyone in need. If you ask her for assistance on anything, provided it's not to commit a crime or wrongdoing, she will most definitely answer you positively. She doesn't do this for a sense of fulfillment or to be rewarded, mind you. She loses nothing for helping, and they receive someone they need in return, that's all. She has her limits, of course, and she knows them well, but even if she's unsure if she can offer any help at all, she will at least do her best to find someone else who can. Not giving up without trying all alternatives first, that's another thing that perfectly describes this facet of hers.
Backstory Highlights:
Rosa was born to a well-off couple in the capital city of Atlas. Her father was a politician that openly spoke and actually acted against the unjust treatment of the people in Mantle, and her mother, an accomplished huntress, infamous for often refusing to follow the orders of the military when in duty due to the generally corrupt nature of the higher-ups. They both had their fair share of detractors within the government, no doubt, but no movements were made against them… At least until the public opinion started to slowly shift in their favor.

Realizing that the Atlesian government would finally start to put a serious effort to silence them, the two decided to prioritize the safety of their baby and handed her to the most trustworthy member of their household - the head maid, Cielo Lualdi - and instructed her to flee to Vale, and to take Rosa with her. She was to never reveal her true parentage to their daughter, and instead treat her like her own child, name and all. Although she objected at first, Cielo relented and left the household behind, ultimately leaving the Solitas continent behind without incident. Cielo would never hear of them ever again. The two of them would then settle down in an orphanage in the city of Vale, managed by a close friend of Cielo, who agreed to employ the woman's services as a maid in exchange for housing arrangements.

Most of Rosa's life would be spent inside the orphanage, growing up into quite the responsible, timid and overly polite young girl, courtesy of Cielo’s strict grooming. Her foster mother also wanted to take care of her studies, but due to a suggestion from her friend, it was decided that Rosa would instead study in the orphanage’s school alongside the other kids. This decision allowed Rosa to open up more by interacting with children her age, becoming more active and outspoken as a result. This change, coupled with her responsible personality and a feeling that she wasn't being of any help to her mother, made her decide that she had to do something, and thus she did.

At age 7, Rosa began to divvy up her free time between playing, studying and helping out with chores, the latter of which being exclusively dedicated to asking the staff if there was anything she could do. At first, they only let her do simple stuff, like wiping cups or dusting tables, but once they realized that she was more than able to handle proper chores, they let her do things almost completely on her own. From then on, she would share tasks with her mother, lightening her load and allowing them to spend more quality time together. It was during one of these times, when Cielo was reading her a popular nursery rhyme, that Rosa gained a love for literature. She went as far as to use her allowance to buy books of all kinds, and whenever her mother was too busy to be with her at night, she would spend those times reading. This passion of hers, however, would open her eyes to something she had yet to experience on her relatively sheltered life: evil.

At age 12, while leafing through a book detailing the history of Remnant, Rosa became acquainted with the terrible things that humanity has done, and those that are still happening to this day. From the wars of old, to the rampant discrimination against the Faunus; the world wasn't actually as happy and straightforward as Rosa had once thought. She felt guilt tugging at her heartstrings just like it did when she realized she spent more time playing than helping her mother, but this time for a very different reason: “Do I really deserve to live such a happy and fulfilling life when people out there don't even get half of it? Worse, we are even mean to them because they have things we don't, like tails or scales! If the Grimm attack everyone indiscriminately, then why must we discriminate them?”

Of course, her views were naive at best, and rather magnanimous at worst. She considered her ignorance to their pain to be just the same as hurting them directly, and while that could be understandable if done on purpose, she was but a growing child. However, since she was alone, none could stop that childish idealism from taking root, and while researching for ways she could help out people in need, Rosa realized that there were indeed people who tried to make a change for the better: Huntsmen. The tales of the many exploits of famous Huntsmen wowed her, and after reading that their actions could even have repercussions on the public, she thought that if she became a famous Huntress herself, perhaps she could make everyone stop hating on the Faunus and join together to fight the Grimm. A laughable delusion to many, but to her it was a goal.

After preparing her heart and savings for about a couple of years, Rosa finally decided it was time to begin her training. She used her savings to buy a training sword and some gear, and then sneaked off to a small forest near the city. There, she would get her arms used to the weight of a weapon by swinging her training sword repeatedly against a thick tree, continuing until her hands were so tired that holding the sword wasn't possible. Afterwards, she would run laps across the edge of the forest until her legs gave out in order to slowly increase her stamina. Once that was done, she would sit cross-legged at the roots of a tree to meditate as her weary limbs rested before returning home for dinner. This was a training regiment that was apparently followed by a renowned Huntress from Pharos Academy when she was starting out. It was supposed to be a daily routine, too, but she deemed it impossible at first and made it a biweekly thing.

People were quickly to notice her ragged state, but when asked about it, she waved everyone's concern, telling them that she simply ended up like that after helping a neighboring business carry some small but heavy boxes. Cielo had her doubts, but decided to believe her daughter after seeing her go back to her active self the very next day, not really minding the fact that she seemed ragged again just a couple days later.

Rosa continued with the training regiment for the about six years, growing into quite the looker after she turned 18. She had long mastered the guide and by that point, it had actually become part of her day-to-day routine. She even started to wear weights at some point in time and swapped her old training sword with a heavy hammer, and even then she wouldn't break much of a sweat anymore. Unfortunately, despite her top-notch physical condition, her actual combat prowess was stuck beginner-level and had been for a while now. She had a solid grasp on the basics, yes, but that was the best she was able to do without an instructor. Thus, it was time to move onto the next step on her goal to become a Huntress: She needed to attend a combat school, and not just any small school, but the prestigious Beacon Academy.

Upon facing her mother and revealing not only her concerns and her plans going forward, but also the idealistic reasoning that ultimately led to her decision in the first place, Cielo couldn't help but staring at her, incredulity clear on her face. However, not even a second later, her expression melted into one she had never seen on her before. It was understanding and solemn. She couldn't know it because she had never been made privy to it, as promised, but it was then that Cielo had realized that Rosa was really those two's daughter. She was awfully idealistic like her father, and straightforward like her mother; it was almost poetic. Heaving out a sigh, and despite initially thinking of refusing her outright, Cielo relented and gave her the okay. However, rather than tell her to go straight to Beacon, she advised her to first take the combat curriculum at Signal. Not only would she gain the valuable combat experience she lacks, she would learn how to make and maintain her own weapon, which was an important asset for any would-be Huntsman.

And so she did. After a heartfelt farewell between her and her mother, as well as to the people of the orphanage, Rosa left for Signal that very same year, and in just two years time, she finished the intensive combat curriculum meant to prepare future students of Beacon in at least four. At age 20 and still fresh off Signal, Rosa would then take a flight straight to Beacon in the hopes of making it in time for the entrance exam, excited to begin her next step to her goal of becoming a famous Huntress someday.
Occupation:
Student
Semblance Name:
Helping Hands
Semblance Description:
Rosa can create aura constructs that resemble her own two hands. These hands come in pairs, one left- and one right-handed, and can only spawn within a meter around her. She can't create two pairs of hands simultaneously, but there can be multiple pairs on the field at the same time. Their size varies depending on how much aura she pours at when creating them, but they cannot be smaller than her own hands. How large they can be, on the other hand, is directly tied to her reserves of aura; if she poured every single ounce of aura available to her into a single pair of hands, it could become just a little larger than a two-story building. Regardless of size, however, these hands are rather fragile and a single, moderately powerful attack is all it takes to destroy them.

These hands don't just remain stationary upon creation, though. In order for them to move, Rosa must issue them orders through her thoughts, being able to order all pairs of hands simultaneously or separately, but the latter can becoming increasingly taxing the more pairs she has to control. Their effective range of movement is centered around her and stretches up to a little over three meters. As soon as any pair of hands leaves that range, she will lose control over it and instead it will continue moving in the same direction it was before, until it either hits something and disappears, or phases out on its own after a while.

Something else worth mentioning is that these hands don't possess as much dexterity as Rosa's own hands, and no matter how quickly she gives them orders, there is always a tiny bit of lag before they finally start moving. However, by linking her own body with a pair of hands, visually represented by them being tied by a thread of aura, it allows that pair to perfectly replicate her movements with no lag whatsoever. The drawback being, however, that their effective range goes down from three to just over one meter around her.
Weapon Name:
Familia
Weapon Description:
Familia are a set of two identical swords and two identical greatswords. These swords look just like an oversized kitchen knife. The blade is sort of triangular in shape and has a single cutting edge that curves gradually towards the tip, while the back is perfectly straight. The handle, barely long enough to grip with two hands, is positioned in such a way that it lines perfectly with the back of the blade.

Additionally, by pushing a switch located at the pommel, the cutting edge of the blade will gradually begin to turn red. This is due to a mechanism inside the back of the blade that ignites and feeds fire dust directly to the cutting edge. This greatly increases the slashing power of the swords for a couple minutes tops, after which the mechanism runs out of dust and cannot be used again until refilled. It can be turned on and off at any time, however.

The two greatswords, on the other hand, look more like spears with a blade on top with how long the handle is. Two persons could grip it with both hands and there would still be some space left for another hand. The double-edged blade is also quite bizarre, being about as thick as an arm and as long as Rosa herself, albeit not as wide. The edges are sharp, though, and could probably split a huge Grimm in half with little effort. These weapons were made with her semblance in mind, meaning that although she could wield one occasionally, she prefers to let her semblance brandish them instead.
Other Gear:
A little pouch fastened to the belt at her waist. In it she carries a variety of supplies, including a single dust cartridge, some first-aid articles and an all-purpose knife for emergencies.
