Physical Description:

Esmerelda is a tall woman with fine, angular features and an athletic physique. Her dark brown skin pairs well with her hazel eyes and her thick black hair. Her hair is simply parted down the middle and falls to her shoulders. It’s obvious she takes great care to appear her best, and her beauty helps in that regard. Esmerelda has a total of four openings to her spinneret glands, on the top and bottom of both wrists. With her Faunus trait, she is able to produce about 1.25 miles (2 km) of silk per day. The silk is as strong as normal spider silk, making a 1/4 cm strand able to support 25 tons of weight.

Outfit Description:

Esmerelda’s casual outfit consists of black and neon green skate shoes, baggy black cargo pants, a gray tube top, and a brown leather jacket. Sometimes she will switch out the leather jacket for a black and neon green hoodie. She often accessorizes with a scarf, wristbands or small golden hoop earrings. For more formal occasions, Esmerelda wears a black two piece blazer suit with neon green trim and black heels.

Personality Description:

Esmerelda puts up the image of a crime boss who is calm, collected, and intelligent. However, in reality she is quite different. Esmerelda has displayed an explosive temper and a vulgar vocabulary behind closed doors. Ultimately, the aforementioned traits can be traced back to her intense passion which can propel her towards whatever goal she is focusing on. Esmerelda is also adept at reading people’s intentions and is a skilled negotiator. On the flip side, Esmerelda lacks subtlety, and often ends up putting her foot in her mouth at inappropriate moments. Additionally, Esmerelda possesses a warped sense of commitment, and she gravitates toward goals and other things that provide instant gratification most of the time. As a result of the culmination of her personality traits, Esmerelda can be highly unpredictable and arbitrary.

Backstory Highlights:

Born in Menagerie to Lucien and Leila Umbra, Esmerelda lived through a somewhat troubled childhood. Lucien was originally the head of the Dark Omen until he was killed by rival syndicates when Esmerelda was ten. His death became the catalyst for Esmerelda to develop her Semblance. The death of her father also deeply scarred her, and she vowed to bring vengeance upon those responsible. Dissatisfied with her home life, she ran away and fell in with various criminal groups to eliminate the rival syndicates.
When Esmerelda was sixteen, her mother fell ill and was unable to lead the Dark Omen in Lucien’s stead. Esmerelda’s twin brother, Orpheus, was next in line to inherit leadership of the Dark Omen. She wanted leadership of the Dark Omen, and proposed a deal to Orpheus. The Dark Omen is well-established in Menagerie, and in prime position to expand. She proposed that if she was able to get a foothold in Vale, she would lead that branch. Orpheus agreed, and Esmerelda put her plan into action, gaining a following in the city of Vale.

Semblance Name:

There and Back Again

Semblance Description:

There and Back Again is a precognitive Semblance that has both combat and utility purposes. Simply put, There and Back Again predicts the most probable outcome to a specific situation. In combat, Esmerelda is able to see five seconds into the future to predict the moves of her opponent. Although she can predict the actions of multiple people, tracking each person multiplies the cost to her Aura, making it impractical and exhausting to use against large groups of combatants. By using a large amount of her Aura, Esmerelda can travel up to five seconds into the future, which can negate any damage done to her within that time. Currently, Esmerelda can only do this up to five times before it completely drains her Aura. There and Back Again does not take into account external factors, such as a quick surprise attack from an unknown enemy, when making its combat predictions. Predictions can be shown as a vision or a mental message, but Esmerelda cannot control how a prediction manifests in the aforementioned regards.

Outside of combat, There and Back Again can be used to divine the result of a conversation, and is primarily used to give Esmerelda an edge in negotiations. As a result, Esmerelda can sway a conversation in a different direction should it go awry in the near future. Alternatively, There and Back Again can divine the result of a long-term goal or event in the distant future. Esmerelda will receive a vision of the final result, but she will not be aware of the series of events that lead to the end result.

Weapon Description:

Pandemonium is a pair of katana-shotgun hybrid weapons suited for Esmerelda’s fighting style. The hilt is wrapped in tape to assist with gripping the weapon. Overall, Pandemonium appears to be a weathered and old pair of weapons, but in reality they were designed that way. In the katana form, Pandemonium has a telescopic design for its blade, and as it transforms into the shotgun form, the blade collapses to become shorter and sturdier. Also, the barrel can be extended for a somewhat longer range. The shotguns are pump action and Esmerelda is able to flip-cock the weapon.

Fighting Style:

Esmerelda fights fast and aggressive, taking advantage of her Semblance to break an opponent’s guard for a brutal finisher. What she lacks in technique she makes up for with intense aggression and speed. She is able to use the silk from her spinneret glands to throw around enemies. Her strategy is limited to hitting or shooting things until they are no longer a threat. Despite her simplistic fighting style, her success is mainly attributed to her Semblance assisting her in combat.
