Physical Description:
Simab is a very tall man with an imposing and husky build, but not overly so. He has a sun kissed olive tone to his skin. Simab’s chiseled features give way to a stony, dour resting face. His chin goatee is always well-kept and shaped immaculately. However, his hair is long, windswept and wild, long at the front with his bangs framing both sides of his face and short at the back. His Faunus trait that may not be noticeable at first is the nictitating membrane, or “third eyelid” which he uses to blink, effectively meaning that he never loses sight of his surroundings. Simab has a small scar starting from the bridge of his nose and terminating two inches down and to his left.
Outfit Description:
Simab dons weathered traditional leathers of red and brown, adorned with his own metallic accessories. He also has a single metallic shoulder pauldron on his left shoulder. The collar of his shirt is quite high, stopping at his earlobes. He often opts to keep the top few buttons of his shirt open, showing a tasteful display of trimmed, dark chest hair.
Personality Description:
Simab is now an austere, strict person who strives for nothing short of perfection. Contrary to his stony appearance, he possesses an unyielding passion for the sciences, particularly the study and creation of metals. Simab has an innate sense of honor, and despises dirty fighting tactics as he believes combat is highly sacred due to his upbringing. His high standards and authoritarian tendencies give him a reputation as a tough and uncompromising teacher. Despite this, he only pushes his students this hard because, in his words, “Enough pressure will make diamonds out of coal” meaning that overcoming difficult challenges will make you strong. If there is one thing that Simab cannot resist, it is a good debate. Simab takes weapon upkeep very seriously, and criticizes those who neglect their weapons.

The culture of his nomadic tribe in Vacuo has left an indelible mark on Simab’s personality and mannerisms. Although he almost never makes physical contact with women outside of combat, he greatly respects them. Hospitality and generosity are paramount to him and his culture. However, in direct contradiction to his culture, he is alright with admitting mistakes and expects others to do the same. Once you make it past his stony exterior, Simab shows a more relaxed side to himself. In his younger days, he admits to being a wild, rakish, and impulsive youth.
Backstory Highlights:
Born in the sandy deserts of Vacuo, Simab Zibaq was the third and last child of Jafar and Ramlah Zibaq. The Zibaq family are members of a nomadic tribe of merchants known as the White Mystics. The White Mystics were constantly on the move, trying to avoid bandits, Grimm, and sandstorms alike. Simab’s older sisters, Fidda and Azraq , were killed during a bandit raid when Simab was only ten. Jafar was also injured, rendering him unable to protect his family. It was at this point that Simab approached the mercenaries hired to protect the White Mystics to learn how to fight. Ramadi Rafiq, the leader of the White Mystics Mercenaries, took the young Simab under his wing.
Ramadi was surprised at the young boy’s ability to fight, noting he had “learned years of experience after only months of training”. Ramadi also unlocked Simab’s Aura for him at this point. Ramadi also insisted that he be tutored by scholars in the tribe, since he believed “A society should not separate its scholars from its warriors”. By the time Simab was seventeen, he had unlocked his Semblance, named Mercurial Flux, during a Grimm attack. Having imparted all the knowledge that they could, Ramadi offered to bring Simab to Shade Academy, which he accepted. Simab graduated from Shade Academy, having proved himself to be an incredibly adept Huntsman. He worked incredibly hard, amassing a fortune in the process.
When Simab reached the age of thirty five, he spent his fortune in order to get materials to build a permanent settlement around an oasis for the White Mystics. He toiled day and night, building structures and defensive positions around the settlement. After several months of hard labor, Simab along with the White Mystics constructed the village of Jannah. Having built a permanent settlement for his tribe, Simab felt fulfilled, but lacking in purpose. After a conversation with Ramadi, now old and grizzled by this point, Simab felt obligated to teach much like his old mentor. “A man of such great talent would squander it by not spreading your knowledge” was a quote from Ramadi that resonated deeply with Simab. Given Vacuo’s environment, Simab looked east towards Vale for greener pastures, literally and figuratively.

Semblance Description:
Mercurial Flux allows Simab to liquefy and shape any metal into various forms. Having achieved mastery of his Semblance, Simab has shown remarkable skill and versatility with Mercurial Flux. The affected metal seems to briefly yet intensely vibrate before liquefying, producing a metallic hum while active. A potent and versatile Semblance, Mercurial Flux has both defensive and offensive capabilities. Simab can create shields and barriers as well as extending the reach of his weapon in combat among other applications. Mercurial Flux seems to remain active for as long as Simab can concentrate. Should his concentration be interrupted, the metal will revert to its original form. If his concentration is ended willingly, Simab can decide to keep the new shape or revert it to the original. While liquefied in this way, metals become incredibly effective conductors of electricity if they weren’t previously conductive, which pairs well with his affinity for Lightning Dust. Simab can also transmute a metal into a different metal, which has given him the nickname “The Metallic Alchemist”. Though he cannot create alloys in this way without the proper materials and the process of transmutation takes hours to complete. Simab’s mastery of Mercurial Flux has caused him to be able to sense the presence of nearby metals, including those that reside within the bodies of living creatures. These trace metals in living creatures are in amounts too fine to manipulate, with the sole exception of the metals in his own body, which has notably higher amounts of trace metals. Another side effect of mastering Mercurial Flux is Simab’s immunity to metal poisoning, which allows him to safely handle metals that are toxic to people.

Sandsplitter
Weapon Description:
Sandsplitter is a long one handed scimitar with an unorthodox firing location. Instead of firing bullets along the blade, bullets instead fire out the front of the weapon, making it effective in situations like sword clashes. The lever action, unlike most other lever actions, is used instead to cycle through rounds without it having to shoot them in order. Although the blade itself doesn’t appear too special at first, it was crafted from an alloy made by Mercurial Flux, granting it superior sharpness and durability.

Fighting Style:
Simab is an accomplished swordsman, utilizing an aesthetic style of swordsmanship full of flourishes and flashy movements. A truly theatrical performance, his fighting style may as well be a complex dance of death. Although dramatic, it does not lose out on practicality, and Simab shows adroitness in technique regardless of what weapon he is holding. As per the tradition of his nomadic tribe, he always begins and ends a duel with a handshake regardless of if he wins or loses. Although he is still proficient in ranged combat, Simab prefers to get up close and personal, or fight at midrange by extending the reach of Sandsplitter with Mercurial Flux.
