Physical Description:
Standing at a meager 5 feet 4 inches, Maria has a rather slender figure, some might saw her as slim. But underneath all the armor, she's fairly lean and well toned, while not exactly muscular. It might get intimidating seeing some other students towering over her, especially in training, but her small frame allows her to be mobile and maneuverable. Her crimson red hair reach half way down her back in length. It contrasts well with her fairly pale skin tone and emerald green eyes.

Outfit Description:
Maria has a few outfits she cycles through depends on the occasion

In battle, Maria is rarely ever seen without her battledress. The dress comprises of a silvery well-tempered breastplate. Layers of linen cloth paddings are woven underneath the metal armor for comfort. On each arm are two dark grey detached sleeves, going from her bicep down to her wrist. Her left arm wears a set of metal gauntlet, covering her sword arm completely, while the right arm wears a much lighter metal bracer. Below, Maria wears a rather simple pink and white skirt and biker shorts underneath. For footwear, she wears a pair of light red boots with steel toes and armored heels and soles.

When she isn't attending classes or planning for any combat, Maria prefers a more casualwear outfit: A brown leather jacket with plain tees of an assortment of colors or sometimes plain white tank tops, paired with a pair of dark navy jeans and sneakers.

If she's seen at Beacon Academy, she's often in the very familiar uniform.

---
Personality Description:
Maria is a rather reserved individual. She's not a very expressive person in social interactions, as most of the time, she masked herself with a rather stoic expression and a gentle smile on her face, coming off as friendly but ultimately a rather meaningless smile. It would take a lot for the girl to let down the mask and express herself. Furthermore, similarly in combat, Maria carry the same stoic expression, albeit a lot more serious than friendly.

A "quick to act" person, Maria rarely ever second doubts herself. Her decisiveness sometimes borderline rash when the girl would rushes toward danger with a single battle plan in mind, no revision or after thought. Yet, it is also one of her great virtue. The scarlette often fights with little to no hesitation, combining her decisiveness and her quick thinking to delivers the best result possible.

Outside battle, Maria's quick to act personality sometime finds its way to her regular life. A first impression is all she needed to tell her about someone, sometimes to her detriment. Despite that, when dealing with people, a little convincing can quickly change the redhead's impression of said person.

Backstory Highlights:
Maria Rosaria Ravenheart, daughter of Leon and Katazyna Ravenheart, was the second born of the Ravenheart family, a wealthy family residing in Northern Atlas. Suffering from a terminal illness, Katazyna succumbed to her sickness after childbirth. Growing up without her mother, Maria’s older brother, Richard, took up the role of role model for the young girl while her father, stricken with grief, became distanced and focused more on running his company.

For the majority of her childhood, Maria rarely ever had the chance to leave the mansion. Her father tried his best to provide Maria with everything she ever needed as an attempt to make up for his neglections toward his little child. Maria was homeschooled with the best teachers and professors. Her father would spend his own leisure time to personally supervise her studies and training. Once in a while, the scarlette would be allowed to leave her home to downtown districts under strict supervision of the family’s bodyguards or her brother himself. For Maria, a life of being under constant surveillance was nothing different from a bird locked in a cage. It didn’t help that all those fairy tales and bedtime stories told to her only fed her hunger for an adventure beyond the walls of Atlas even more.

It didn’t take long for those desires to take control. Time after time, Maria attempted to skip her classes and training to find any chances to sneak outside. She even got the butlers and maids in major heaps of troubles forcing them to cover up her tracks. The girl rarely ever succeeded, however. Richard would always be a step ahead, stopping her before she could leave and bring her back for her lessons. She never understood why her brother always insisted that she should stay inside the mansion, especially since he was the one who instilled these ambitious ideas in her.

As Maria grew older, she became more and more mature. While the dreams of one day seeing the outside world with her own eyes was still strong in her, they were simply just dreams; wild fantasies she secretly nurtured. Maria would fake her interest in geography lessons just so she learns more about the world. She no longer tried sneaking away from her classes. Employees working in the mansions were relieved as well, now that the little girl behaved herself and stopped getting others in trouble for her sake.

During this time, Richard and Leon’s relationship was on the decline, and it only worsens every time the two met. While Leon wanted his son to take on the position as head of his company, Richard refuted such ideas. He had always has his interest in Atlesian’s militia. By the time Leon brought up the discussion, he had already made preparations to enroll into the army. Disagreements turned into heated arguments, as the two would constantly be at war against one another to determine what was the right course. Then, one day, Richard left without a single notice.

Richard’s departure left an empty hole in Maria’s life. Ever since her mom passed away, her brother had always been there for her in their mother’s place. With him gone, as well as Leon’s inexperience as a father, Maria was left by herself, thus driving her further away, now putting more strains on her own relationship with her dad. Now, Maria didn’t just want to leave her home to explore the city, she wanted to get away from her home to clear her mind.

Every now and then, Maria would find ways to sneak out of her own mansions, returning to her old ways of threatening anyone that even tried to get in her way, or forcing them to aid her, now much more effective than before. When she did successfully get out of her home, the young redhead would wander around Atlas’s street, sightseeing and window shopping in the commercial district. By the age of twelve. she already learned to use the train system to get from place to place, using her allowances for tickets.

Unfortunately, her antics didn’t last for long. Leon was more than furious to find out about her little scheme. He had provided everything his girl ever needed with one single request that she didn’t leave all by herself. What if she had gotten kidnapped? Turned the wrong street? Lost? What if she somehow wandered into traffic and got into an accident? He tried so hard to protect her, and how did she repay him? She snuck away the first chance she got. Enough was enough.

Leon not only tightened security around the mansion, but also forbade her from going outside again. Any employee who dared to even help her get out will be subjected to immediate termination, and she no longer has any power to tell his employees what they can and cannot do. She was grounded for as long as he sees fit.

That didn’t stop Maria from attempting to escape however. She tried again and again, and with each failed attempt only pushed Leon further and further. Tension between Maria and Leon worsened every attempt, failed or succeeded.

Then, one day, Maria stood before her father with a challenge. An honorary duel between father and daughter to end this back and forth between them. At first, Leon scoffed at the idea, but seeing the determination in her eyes, he obliged under the condition that if she loses, she will do exactly what he wanted of her. In return, if she wins, she can go wherever she wishes without ever asking anyone again.

For most of the fight, it was clear that Leon’s technique and experience far surpassed Maria’s. However, before his final strike, there was a faint warmth growing within Maria, something neither she or her father could understand. Stemming from her desire to be free, to do what she wanted without being chained down by other’s wishes of what they wanted her to be, Maria delivered back a swift and powerful blow, packing far more power compared to any attack Maria could ever deliver before. She unlocked her Aura.

Despite his loss and his part of the agreement, Leon still wanted to teach Maria a lesson. He would comply with her demand to go wherever she wishes without needing to ask anyone ever again. The next day, what Maria had thought to be the day she had been waiting for turn… unexpected. Leon had had his butler prepared a suitcase for her with all the essentials needed. Clothes, personal hygiene, money, her rapier… She was no longer welcomed in the Ravenheart’s family again.
____________________

Leon had thought it would be a clever ruse, that at most after a day, she would come running back, finally realizing what she wanted isn’t what she had imagined it to be. But the next day, Maria didn’t come back. One day turned into three, and before he knew it, a week had passed. Maria is still missing, and Leon finally realized the grave error in his plan, sending his fourteen years old daughter out alone in the snowy street of Atlas.

Gutting himself over his mistakes, Leon immediately contacted Atlas’s police force to report about his missing daughter. Those sleepless days sitting in his office waiting for any news, any update began to strain on the physical and mental health of the weary man. His hair had turned grey from all the stress, and his butler had to intervene to get Leon to finally sleep through… questionable means.

After the first tearful night, Maria tried to steel her resolve as best as a fourteen years old could. There were so many questions she had at the time she didn’t have answers for. Too many heavy hearted questions for her father, who had just kicked her out of her house. She would have turned to her brother Richard for guidance, but Maria didn’t know how or where to even start looking for him. No other option besides keep on moving. Next morning, Maria had decided she would do what her father wanted and leave it all behind her.

She traveled by train to many other areas of Atlas under the guise of a travelling young lady, eventually finding her way to the edge of the commercial business district. This used to be her most favorite place to be when she sneaked away from home. But now looking back, it has lost the charm it once has. It didn’t matter much anyway. Her destination this time would be another place far from here. Disguising as a young girl on a touring trip with a forged letter from her tutor, Maria headed on one of the airships traveling to Vytal.

Once finally arriving at Vytal, the only thing left was to snuck on a small caravan and left the small port town. From then on, one caravan to another, village after village the scarlette explored the continent by herself. At times, she even almost forgot about what happened. With the money her dad gave, it was enough to get by, now that food and sleeping place had become marginally cheaper than it was in Atlas. She managed to travel for a few months, going back and forth between villages. Some travellers even recognized her, the lone child that wanders from place to place, yet seemingly enjoying every single moment.

However, it didn’t come without hardship. There were times when the transport caravans wouldn’t take children that were left unsupervised, or the trading cart found her out and left her back in the previous towns. Maria had to walk a lot on her own a lot, and time after time her legs would feel tired and burning, yet she couldn’t risk stopping, should some wild Grimm show up. Her luck finally ended one day, when during one of her travelling trips, someone had recognized her as the missing person notice Atlasian police posted.

Maria was escorted back to the port town through a small travelling caravan. The person had determined to bring her back, thinking that she must be scared that she had gotten lost from home for over a month, untrusting of him. Of course, Maria was sulking and struggling the entirety of the way. Perhaps it must have been her attitude that caused the whole commotion to begin when her caravan had attracted the unwanted attention of a small pack of Beowolves. The horse panicked when the Grimms attacked, broke the reins and fled into the wild. The caravan was toppled and all the passengers were either crushed underneath or sent over the top. Maria felt her head hit against the trodden dirt before everything blacked out.

The scarlette woke up to witness something she could never forget. The caravan was completely destroyed. What was left of the survivors scattered along the wreckage. Crimson red painted the wood splinters and the metal frames of the vehicle. Maria was hurled meters away from the main road, her arms and body bruised and battered, but no serious injuries, and because of it, she was spared from the slaughter. Her sword was missing from her hip, now laying amongst the chaotic mess. It's unknown to her how much time had passed, but everything seemed to have settled down, or most of it. From the rubble, three small Beowolves scavenged around for what little scrap left of the victims. Maria had first intended to lay low, keep herself hidden until the carnage was over. However, her plan changed when an ear piercing screech broke the silent from the rubble. A young girl, much younger than Maria herself fled from the scene as fast as her legs could carry her, but she was stopped dead on her track when a Beowolf lunged forward and blocked her path. Fallen back, paralyzed in fear, the child couldn’t even utter a cry for help.

At that moment, everything stopped. Maria looked on in desperation as the Beowolves all surrounded the young girl. She wanted to do something to help her… anything. She needs to get to her weapon. If she has her sword in hand, she would be able to help the little child. But she wouldn't be fast enough. By the time she got up and got to her weapon it would’ve been too late. She needs to get to her sword in a flash. In that desperate moment, something ignited.

A flash of red illuminated the crash site. Before anyone or anything could react, the scarlette had already had her sword embedded inside one of the Grimm creatures. At that moment, as if a fire was ignited. As if acting on pure instinct, Maria ripped the blade from inside the Beowulf free, carrying her momentum over to slash the other one behind her on its skull. A moment of confusion took over the scarlette as she too was unsure what had just happened. The monsters didn’t give her time to ponder however. One of the Beowolves let out an ear-piercing howl, before more showed up from the edge of the woods,

Maria told the girl to flee before taking steps backward away from the Grimms, running in the opposite direction into the forest herself. Getting herself lost in the woods became much less of a concern, as she only needed to get a way. The chase leads her to an uncharted area of the woods: a long abandoned village that was removed from the map. Following the trail leading out from the village, the chase finally ended when she was cornered at a large overhanging cliff. The only thing connected to the otherside was an old weathered hang bridge. The bridge seemed unstable at best and the middle had already collapsed. Any slip would end up a long fall down to the river below.

But there’s no time for hesitation. Tailed by the Grimms right behind her, any hesitation would spell doom. Hearing loud rumblings behind, Maria turned around, only to be pounced on by a Beowolf fast approaching. The scarlette quickly fell back, putting her sword through the monster's chest before kicking it overhead into the ravine below. With more coming, she had to risk it if she wanted to stay alive. Taking her leap of faith, Maria would've made it to the other side if it weren't for another one following right behind, snatching at her leg with its claws. The momentum dragged her downward, just shy of the other side of the bridge, but Maria managed to hold on, gripping at a piece of protruding wood while the monster fell.

What she hadn't realized, the old weathered wooden plank wouldn't be strong enough to hold her weight. The only warning she received was the light crackling of the wood before it too gave out, sending her falling to the river below.

Maria woke up in a cold sweat. She had thought that she would’ve been gone, yet she found herself inside a warm bed in a small room, dimly lit by candle light. Most of her injuries were bandaged up and healed. Clutching at her neck, the scarlette let herself calmed down a little before she got out of bed and carried the candle with her out of the room. Before her was a long hallway with many doors to the side. She could feel presence within the room; even hearing some quiet snoring behind the walls. At the end, there was a staircase leading down to the ground floor below. The hallway overlooked a dining area beneath. A large round table set as the centerpiece of the room with small tables surround it along the walls. The bar sat opposite to the entrance.

So many questions still left unanswered, so Maria simply sat down at the big round table and waited. The only thing she remembered was pondering about everything she went through before being woken up by a couple, a human and a Faunus. They introduced themselves as the owners of the inn, Jonathan and Helena Laurent. Jonathan, preferred to go by Jonas, was a long time veteran Huntsman. He resigned from that life after marrying the wolf Faunus. Now, they owned and managed the inn. They explained how their daughter returned home all bruised and terrified, claiming she was attacked by Grimm but a lady with red hair saved her. They went into detail about how they set out to find Maria, but found no luck among the wreckage, and how they finally found her near death by the river creek miles from the crash. Through the conversation, Maria told the couple her own story, how it all started and how she got there. Perhaps it was because it’d been so long since Maria had had a chance to sit down and share a piece of her mind, so when she does, it all comes flooding out. That’s when the couple strike a deal. They’ll give her a room to herself and consider her as a part of their family as a gift for her selfless action and her sacrifice. Being out on the road for so long, Maria missed the feeling of being a part of a family a lot, so when the moment was presented, she could hardly reject it. Thus, from that day, she became a new member of the Laurent household.

The next four years Maria spent her days helping out in the inn and around town. Words spread fast about her deed, and soon, she was the unofficial village's guard, a quick responder to any Grimm sightings. Jonas helped Maria honed her combat skills as well as taught her a few new tricks in hand to hand combat, showing her what he knew as a Huntsman. Though, despite being an ex hunter, Jonas didn't quite have it to be a teacher. His teaching is rather... subpar. She still has a lot to learn herself, particularly the head spinning semblance.

There were talks about sending Maria to Vale to attend Beacon Academy. Her gifts and virtues in battle would be a waste not to. Despite Maria's reluctance to depart, Jonas and Helena managed to convince her to go. Jonas had already made some calls to old acquaintances of his, and they had guaranteed that the likelihood of Maria's application would be approved is extremely likely. Thus, the next day, the entire family said their farewells and sent the scarlette away to the bus for Beacon.

Occupation:
Education:
As far as her formal education goes, Maria was homeschooled her entire childhood until she was fourteen years old when the incident happened. Ever since then, it comes to a halt.

Combat experience, however, she has plentiful of. Back in Atlas, Maria's trained in fencing duels by her father and other professional teachers. When she left Atlas and live with Jonas, her trainings instead usually consist of practical battles with small Grimms wandering and hand to hand combat with Jonas, a retired hunter.

Semblance Name:
Red Lightning
Semblance Description:
Firstly, Maria has an ability that let her transfers an amount of her own aura into an object, forming a link between it and her, with the amount she have to spent vary depends on the sizes of each object. This connection allowed Maria to tell where exactly the object is around her to a radius of 10 meters. Furthermore, when she closed her eyes and channel her aura, Maria can see the position of each of the object as small specs. If the object is destroyed, or otherwise lose the original shape when Maria had first establish the link, it is then severed. The more links there are, the more attention it took to focus on each of these items.

The limit of items she can connected to varied between how much aura Maria can spend before stretched herself too thin, like 15 shurikens or 30 bobby pin hair clips, or 5 arming swords. However Maria currently sits comfortably at connecting to 10 objects total, including her sword, 3 throwing daggers and 6 hair pins stored in the back pouch of her belt, as connecting to too many items also put a lot of strain on her ability to focus, as it would create too many things to keep track of in the battlefield.

Red Lightning allows Maria to instantaneously teleport herself to one of the linked objects around her. It is not needed to have line of sight of the object, nor a direct path. As long as she can sense the object in that 10 meter radius, she can teleports herself to that location. When she did, her aura quickly flashed faintly before she reappear in the other location in the exact same position as she was in before she teleported, given that a part of her body is making contact with the linked object. However, the location she teleported to cannot be obstructed, and there is no possible room that Maria could appear, like when the connected object slid under a crevice too small or narrow to fit, regardless of how Maria positioned herself, she will not be able to use her semblance.
---
Weapon Name:
Fatalis
Weapon Description:
Fatalis is no different from a regular rapier, albeit a bit regal in design. The handle is wrapped in treated leather. The sword has a rather wide guard and an ornate yet practical and effective hand guard. The blade is a single-edge kind, shaped more similar to a straight saber. The weapon doesn't have any transforming components, looking as plain as any other weapon (not very Hunter like). Despite that, the weapon hold a rather significant sentimental value.

Beside her main weapon, Maria also carries around a small dagger. Most of the time, she uses it as an off hand parrying tool, using it to deflect attacks toward her way. However, when she's out in her casual wears, the girl always has the dagger tucked neatly, either on her beltline or inside her purse.

---
Fighting Style:
Depends on whether or not Maria is fighting another human/faunus, or a Grimm, her fighting style differs greatly. However, both focus on a more precision-oriented style of combat.

When going against a humanoid target, rarely ever would it warrant the redhead to drew her blade. Instead, Maria often keep her blade sheathed and fights with the scabbard still on, strapped tight to avoid it flying off, or she wouldn't even use her sword at all, opting to pick up a metal pipe or bring along a baseball bat with her if she knows a fight will occur beforehand. Maria adopts a much more reactive style of approach in these fight. She would often wait patiently for the opponent to make the first move before swinging her weapon to riposte the attack and go on the counter offense. Maria also utilizes her semblance to trips up her opponents by repositioning herself to throw off the enemy, or teleports behind them to create an opening after the enemy attacked. Contrast with her style, her attacks are slow and seemingly sluggish, but it's still as precise and pack a heavier punch.

When fighting a Grimm creature, Maria has no reason to hold back. Maria's combat strategy heavily focused on fast and accurate strikes on the weak points of her target, around the joints or between the bone plates, dismantling the Grimm one strike after another. When fighting Grimms, her dagger comes in a lot less uses, often used more as a tool to hold onto a surface or the Grimm creature itself when she perform her maneuvers, or eventually get fling aside by one of their attacks.
